• SIFF is calling for all young film-loving kiddos to apply for a spot on their very first FutureWave Youth Jury (for high schoolers) and the Films4Families Youth Jury (for kids grades 4-8) at this year's festival. Application deadline is 5 p.m. Monday, May 18.

Every so often we get an email from someone visiting town for a few days who wants to see the sights, but not get trapped in a constant scrum of tourists the whole time. We've made a stab at some likely suspects, but feel free to add yours in the comments. This is a game the whole internet can play!

        

Seattlest Katelyn is in Antalya, Turkey, for this week's leg of her trip to the Mediterranean. She's armed with a camera, so those of you who have never been to Turkey can follow along at home.

When even a convent in Olympia began to seem expensive (egads), Seattlest settled for a trip to the mysterious region called "unincorporated Snohomish County," also known as "our parents' house." We would take a vacation, damnit, even if that meant a weekend of sitting in our high school bedroom-turned-guest-room, noshing on Trader Joe's brie, and contemplating the tiny nature reserve just beyond the rows of strawberry plants in the back yard.
