Seattlest has been holding fast to the hope of Robyn actually coming back to Seattle to make good on the promise that came this spring when she postponed her Seattle and Portland shows to appear on The View. But then our friend got this email today from TicketsWest: This email is to inform you about the Robyn show at Neumos. The show was going to be rescheduled for some time in August but it is......

This fall we are combining our love of the football and our dream of learning to cook. On Sunday morning, following a trip to a local farmer’s market/major supermarket chain, we will be preparing a meal from the city of the Seahawks opponent. Then at halftime we will throw our badly burned hands in the air and make hot dogs One of our best friends from college spurned her native Portland to live in a......

Turns out Amazon.com's customer service department isn't staffed by computers -- just sarcasm-savvy people who use computers. Consumerist broke the story: Amazon Sends "Best Customer Service E-mail I've Ever Received". We'll summarize: One of Amazon.com's Black Friday deals was the chance to win a $1000 laptop for $299. Many people entered; most of them were unsuccessful. Some theorized that Amazon employees had snatched up all the good deals, since no one they knew had won......

Austinist gets arty with an interactive guide to SXSW, loved some local art galleries and a new art exhibit and lamented the possible loss of "Friday Night Lights" production to New Mexico. Bostonist was happy they finally found an Anna Nicole Smith connection to their fair city and that an Apple Store was opening up. They were less happy that new rules have been established limiting underage shows and that their Governor is spending......

Has the EMP ever looked better? If so, we missed it, but kenyee snagged the view, then tagged his photo "seattlest" on Flickr. Thanks for sharing, kenyee. We've noticed more and more gorgeous photos showing up in the lefthand column under the Latest photo: header. And we want more. More! MORE! So we started a Seattlest Flickr group. Join up, share your photos, and we'll use as many of the great ones as we......

Holy crap are we not getting enough sleep. We woke up this morning and did battle with the dueling alarms we have to set to enforce our five hours of shut eye, slugged ourselves to the bus stop, inched our way downtown to the soothing sounds of Don Edwards and then experienced our first radical optical illusion since a beach rave and a handful of mushrooms five years ago. We peered into a newsbox and......

An HGTV crew will be in Seattle in the spring to film local cribs for their "Small Spaces, Big Style" show so if you have a designy space that's smaller than 1000 square feet you should get in touch with them. THE REQUIREMENTS: 1- SIZE: The homes can be ANY type of living space- homes, apartments, condos, lofts, bungalows, yurts, yachts, dorm rooms, houseboats- but they must be under 1,000 square feet! We are also......

Tonight there's an Open House for the City of Seattle's Draft Waterfront Concept Plan, 5:30 to 7:30pm (with a brief presentation at 6:00pm), in the Bertha Landes Room, Seattle City Hall, 600 Fourth Avenue. Everybody holla! If you're not aware, there are big doings in the works for Seattle's waterfront. Back in 2004, Seattlest attended a Visioning Charrette, which presented the results of design groups' brainstorming sessions, and it was a mixed bag. Some wanted......

Don’t get us wrong -- we love the Space Needle. But it’s crowded, noisy, and expensive -- $13 for an adult ticket! Plus, the parking sucks, and it currently has that tacky “12” flag flying from its top. In short, it’s overrated. Not so with the Volunteer Park water tower. Admission and ample parking are free, and its open-air observation deck -- roughly the same elevation as the Needle’s -- is just as scenic.......

-You absolutely have to go read Elvis fans from around the world attack Seattlest in creative and hilarious ways in the comments of what we thought was a funny but moderate Elvis Birthday post. -Not only do mail order brides actually exist, but sometimes they're named Anastasia. Bush signed a law today sponsored by our Rep. Lawson and Sen. Cantwell to protect future mail order Anastasias. -Yesterday the news said we'd had a lot of......

Ah summer in Seattle. You never know what you might find around the bend. Whether it’s 19 cannons being fired off at Pier 36 this morning, bad traffic, or the Blue Angels screeching overhead, Seafair continues into August. So don’t forget to check the schedule to mark where you want to be or not be. Personally Seattlest can’t wait for the Parade of Ships on August 3rd. And guess what? You can actually take a......

Seattlest is on a Canada bender. Well, to be accurate, this particular member of the Seattlest ranks has spent more time in Canada than in Seattle during the month of June. Soon we promise to have a long, lovely post about our 9-day trip to the interior B.C. Okanagon region, but right now we're having too much fun up at Whistler. (Cheers to Electric Daisy Internet for great pay-by-the-minute access, located right next to Garfinkels......

In the view of Sonics players, excellent three-point-shooting is the team's best chance to beat heavily-favored San Antonio in their best-of-seven Western Conference Semifinal playoff series. In game one, however, two of their top marksmen, Ray Allen and Vladimir Radmanovic sprained their ankles. Had the Sonics won, it might have been called a Pyrrhic victory. Instead, not only was their offense crippled, but they suffered a humiliating 22-point loss. Not so much a Pyrrhic victory......
