Seattlest headed downtown this morning, latte in hand, to celebrate the legacy of one of our country's greatest Civil Rights leaders. The P-I (God rest its soul) had informed us that the annual MLK Day parade would embark from Westlake Park on 4th and Pine at 10 a.m. and make its way to Seattle Center, so we were more than a little shocked to arrive at quarter til and see a whopping dozen-or-so people gathered. We asked a woman if this was where the parade was gathering, and she said yes. "Is this everyone?" we asked. "No," she said, laughing slightly, "we're just a small group."

The Seattle-PI asks in the headline of a couple-hundred-word story a question we could answer in one word and a single photo.
We're no prude, but we have to admit to being a wee bit (okay a lot) shocked to see the following banner ad attached to a local news story on the Seattle P-I's site.
After Seattlest arrived at the office today, saw all of these big white trailers across the street, and had our little "Well, this is unusual" moment of tilted equilibrium, we got curious. Is this another episode of our friendly German invasion of last August?
When we first heard about the extra tax being levied on car-sharing companies like Flexcar in September, we were pretty incensed, as were many other one-car households. Sounds like the folks down in Oly may have actually heard our cries. The PI reports this morning that:
The PI is reporting that the Ballard Bridge is currently stuck open and that the DOT has no idea when it'll re-open. So if you're driving to Ballard this afternoon, you may want to take an alternate route. Or, better yet, don't drive anywhere near the Ship Canal this afternoon. You'll probably be better off.
The Republicans, learning from the mistakes of the Democrats in King County's Sixth, may decide to run a candidate against Governor Gregoire next fall.
The PI's John Cook offered the best short summary of what's new at Zillow in his Venture Blog today:
Big changes at Zillow.com today, with the company overhauling its Web site to include user-generated for sale listings, a real estate wiki and a new service called "Make Me Move" that allows any home owner to set a dream price for their home on the site. You can get more sober and insightful discussion from Zillow's blog, of course, but we've enjoyed reading some of the more biased (and either worried or thrilled) commentary.
Those down at King County Elections are feeling pretty good about themselves, or well, cautiously optimistic, following the recent primary election—which believe it or not was held a couple of weeks ago. There have been no major problems reported, and it appears that everything went off just as planned.
The PI got all Mossback on Seattle's newish crop of shiny shirt enclaves today with an article entitled, "Classy clubs or cheap imports?"
The PI published an article yesterday about the rise of large pot growing operations in the state of Washington, particularly Chelan County and there's an identical version in the Seattle Times today. Last summer and fall pot harvests were captured with an estimated street value of $25.6 million in Chelan and Douglas counties.
While most of Seattle was out playing in the sun the last few days, two more candidates emerged for this fall's election.
The PI is reporting that Seattle actress and playwright, Nicole duFresne, was shot and killed during a robbery attempt in New York City where she had lived for two years.
