Holy Jeezits, what an outstanding weekend! On Friday, we knocked off early, rounded up the wife and in-laws, bought a bag of tacos, and headed to Richmond Beach in Shoreline. The picnic tables were warm, the tacos messy and delicious. We watched people play or take naps. We watched a pale, red-headed girl turn lobster red while playing Frisbee with her negligent mother. Saturday, we drove out to Snoqualmie Falls. We'd never been there, so......

TO TELL THE TRUTH: We in the Seattlest newsroom love a good controversy. When it involves a literary sensation and Oprah, the intrigue is doubly delicious. So you can bet that number one on our list of things to do tonight is go to Town Hall to see James Frey and Josh Kilmer-Purcell for a night of readings from two "memorists turned novelists." Frey admitted on Oprah that what he wrote about getting over his......

Hey wow, holy shit it is hot outside and it's only 11am. With this weekend's forecast, people will be freaking everywhere outside. We're planning a mountain bike ride near Roslyn on Saturday, other friends are going camping, and another crew is ski touring around Rainier. But lest you forgot your high school chemistry classes, the effect of heat on frozen substances is to cause them to melt. In this case, very suddenly and there's still......

Looking for a way to get out and enjoy some beer with the nice weather this weekend? You've probably got it all figured out, but here are a few ideas anyways: University District Street Fair - Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. (6 p.m. Sunday). Nearly 400 craft and food tents to browse, plus live music and other events. The Big Time Brewery beer tent will be the place to be......

Or sunburns, more likely. We doubt any of of you have actually thought to pack sunscreen on your person, given the state of our weather lately. KOMO says it's only fifty-five degrees out there, and maybe it is, but it feels awesome outside. It's Friday afternoon, people. Just get up, walk to the elevator, and be on your way. No one will even notice. Go on now. You know you want to. You know you......

This is what the sun looks like, and that blue stuff behind it, that is called the sky. Sunday and Monday should be nice, so get outside while you can, because the rest of the week looks like the last twenty days.......

Ahh spring. So wonderful and yet so fickle. Thankfully for us, spring was fully sprung Saturday when we took the wife up to Lopez Island to celebrate her birthday by riding in the annual Tour de Lopez. We’d never been to Lopez, but we’ve spent some time on Orcas and San Juan, so we were a bit leery of riding our bike around any of the San Juans. They are, after all, islands and they......

"What did you do on Saturday?" Always with a smile, we've asked--and have been asked--this question many many times today. It seems everyone around us is genuinely interested and excited to hear what we were up to during our glorious sunny Saturday. Us? Once we finished mowing the lawn for the first time this year, we packed a sandwich, a book, some tunes, a thermos of Tanqueray & tonic, and biked down to Richmond Beach......

Seattlest grew up in Central Florida and, even though we haven't lived there for many, many years, we still crave the sunshine. Maybe it's because our body expects more vitamin D? We certainly don't want to add to the choruses of imported souls who bitch and moan about Seattle winters. Nonetheless, we wind up doing so, anyway, every year around mid-January. But, we've come to delight in February, which always gives us a week......
