There are 12 weeks until Election Day, and 12 issues in our state's gubernatorial race (13 if you count Eastern Washington's concerns). Each week we'll be taking an award-winning look at where the candidates stand. Rossi: His detractors claim that he's a Bush model global warming denier. Well Mr. Rossi, if there's no such thing as climate change, how do you explain the crap weather we've been getting the last few years? He's probably......

After what seemed to be the longest winter in Washington history, a weekend full of warm sunshine was just what Seattle needed. Thankfully, this weekend finally delivered--and then some! With tempratures topping the 90's both Saturday and Sunday, Seattle tied high temperature records for those days. What did you do to enjoy the sunshine--was it too hot or just right for pride? Did any of the local drag queens' makeup run? If it was a......

Photo by anitakhart/Flickr SFist asked, since it was National Pigeon Day this past week, one simple question about the urban winged creature: love 'em or hate 'em?As California prepared for legal gay marriage, which begins Monday evening, and also watched as Los Angeles celebrated equality during last week's Pride celebration.Torontoist featured photos from Woofstock, the city's festival for all things pooch—and the largest and most adorable event of its kind on the continent. The......

Ryan Dobosh lived in Seattle from 1989--2002, before moving to Los Angeles. He is in town this week and has some thoughts about his old home. I woke up this morning and had that old familiar dread coursing through my veins. "Did I leave my sunglasses in the car again?" I'm sure you will agree with me, that is THE WORST. Oh well, no matter, I was to get on a plane at noon bound......

Another beautiful photo from Seattlest Flickr contributor Tim Willis Yesterday's stormy weather left over 35,000 homes in Western Washington without power. Nearly 20,000 of the homes affected were in Seattle and South King County. The National Weather Service warned of gusts of over 55 mph yesterday and, while it's no scientific measure, the windows of our house were rattling and the power flickered more than once last night. Thankfully, it never went out. The Washington......

As our friend pointed out, between the weather, the Mariners, and The Love Guru, 2008 could go down as the worst summer in history. The Seattle Times took a big poop-poop all over everyone's lives by reporting that the cooler than normal temperatures could be with us through July. We understand that not all of you prefer blue skies and warm temperature, so enjoy this, it's your time. As for the rest of us,......

The weather, it just gets worse. Hoping for summer? Keep hope alive! Remember spring? Surely, we must have had one. (Missed it last year; we were in the bathroom.) Wait, a dim memory: a vague recollection of a spring-like afternoon last week. It comes back to us now. We were on upper Queen Anne. A whole street of yellow blossoms catches our eye. Goldenchain, they call those trees, don't they? Laburnum, in the garden store.......

This is what the sun looks like, and that blue stuff behind it, that is called the sky. Sunday and Monday should be nice, so get outside while you can, because the rest of the week looks like the last twenty days.......

Another great Seattle snow shot courtesy of our Flickr Pool and SamanthaFitForBattle If you thought snow in late March was strange, just wait till you try snow in late April! The National Weather Service says Western Washington should expect a cold weekend, with high temperatures venturing into the low 40s. They've forecasted 1 to 2 feet of snow in the Cascades over the weekend and lowland snow showers at elevations as low as 1,000 feet.......

The dispiriting weather forecast--below, via Google. Friggin' cold and friggin' rainy. On days like these, there is but one sure pick-me-up: soup. In a typically magnificent essay her classic How to Cook a Wolf, the food writer M.F.K. Fisher made an inarguable case that, if you can make tea, it's silly not to try and make soup. The natural progression from boiling water to boiling water with something in it can hardly be avoided, and in......
