Finally, H&M, the Ikea of clothing stores, will make its glorious debut in Seattle.

Remember when The Crocodile Cafe closed unexpectedly in December? Remember how up in arms everyone got, yelling about how likely it was that yet more new condos would be the result?

There is a low power radio station over at SU on 12th Ave. It's on 89.1 Mhz, and is very low power. One can only get it within 1/4 mile from the campus, beyonf which some religious station blocks them out. The signal is strongest at 12th and Cherry.They claim to use 1330 khz also, but didin't have any luck there. The call letters are KSUB.

First it was severed feet washing ashore, now it is empty bottles of rat poison. The bottles, which have thus far been empty, have been washing up on Washington shores since last fall. That spring trip to the coast is sounding less appealing every day.

Woot! Slowly, but surely this Seattlest is starting to see some semblance of equal rights for ourselves and others like us, as a bill has passed the state legislature granting us over 100 more rights. Chris Gregoire is expected to sign it, no problemo.

The Tacoma soldier who is accused of killing a fellow army couple and kidnapping their infant has been transferred to the custody of the United States Army. The Army will prosecute Specialist Ivette Gonzalez Davila for the murders of Army medics Timothy and Randi Miller, who were doused in acid after being shot. Davila was transferred yesterday from Pierce County Jail to the brig at Bangor's sub base. The Army is expected to charge Davila with the Millers' murders within the next 48 hours.

It seems every time we check a local news site, which is pretty regularly...okay hourly, there's a report of another malfunctioning ferry. According to our unscientific, educated guesstimate, The Washington State Ferry Service has only had a few days of normal running schedules in the past month.

Do not be surprised to see a $1 suggested donation for tap water on your restaurant bill if you dine out from March 16 to March 22. During this week in March, restaurants around the nation will ask patrons to donate the price of their tap water to support UNICEF’s Tap Project, which provides clean drinking water for children in need. One dollar affords 40 days of clean drinking water for a child – not a hard cause to get behind.

Washington lumber giant Weyerhaeuser and California's Chevron Oil and Gas Company have announced a partnership to develop a new bio-fuel. The planned fuel would be created out of wood fiber--something we imagine Weyerhaeuser has plenty of.

Sixty University of Washington professors have signed an open letter discussing the trend of unprepared students. Science and Math teachers at the UW have noticed a rising number of their incoming students can't do basic math. Some instructors claim they've had to dumb down their classes because of the increasing lack of math skills.

The fire started in the boat's laundry room and spread throughout the boat. The fire burned for five hours before being extinguished by 16 crew members, who stayed on board to fight the blaze. Eighty percent of the Pacific Glacier's crew calls the Seattle-area home. The entire crew survived the fire without incident or injury, despite the whole floating in the Bering Sea in the middle of February in a life raft or fighting a fire in an enclosed space thing.

Two eastside teens have been arrested for the false bomb threat that shut down Mercer Island High School on Tuesday. The teens, a 15 year old female student from Mercer Island High School and a 16 year old boy from Renton. The arrests were made around noon on Wednesday. The teens were booked into a juvenile detention center, upon suspicion of phoning in the bomb threats.

Our neighbors across the lake, have come up with a unique way to deal with tree root systems buckling sidewalks and city streets. Starting Thursday, The City of Bellevue will begin installing rubber sidewalks in areas where tree roots have destroyed traditional concrete walkways. The first rubber sidewalks will be installed along a half block stretch of Bellevue's NE 10th St., just north of 102nd Ave. NE. The street's concrete has been damaged by American Sweet Gum trees, which have lined the road for the past decade.
