We’ve watched every Super Bowl since XXII.

Not all wounds heal quickly, as evidenced by allegations from a Pittsburgh Steelers fan who claims a fast-food-working Seahawks fan spit in his burger this week.

Yesterday we wrote that the Huskies would beat #10 Wazzu, and we were wrong. Don't be that surprised, it happens a lot.

CASTING CALL: Local director Garrett Bennett is looking for extras to cast in his independent film The Spy & the Sparrow.

We have had our issues with Ryan Appleby this season. The curly haired guard can seemingly do one thing on the court, hit three pointers. This season he has been struggling to do that, making him essentially useless.

So. The Huskies. The team that's our city's best chance at a 2007 championship trophy, and they can't even beat the Cougs. Historical fact: No team has ever lost to Washington State University and gone on to win the championship of anything.

Sports Illustrated is featuring the Huskies on the cover of their College Basketball preview-- well one of the five regional covers. The west coast edition features John Brockman and…really, wow, Ryan Appleby. Huh. Justin Dentmon must have had class or something.

Maybe it started when we found out the Urban Hike domain is actually owned by a Pittsburgh group. Pittsburgh, we thought. Huh.

Two days later, the horrible officiating in Super Bowl XL (led by Bill Leavy, at right) continues to be a major media story. Our take? Sure, there were some bad calls, but the Hawks would have still won had they played better, coached better, and not had some critical injuries.

Show of hands, Seattle—how many of us called in sick this morning with plans to just end it all? Well, postpone those urges of mass suicide for a little while longer as we answer this week's burning question: What in the name of Mike Holmgren is a Code Black? We've been teased, taunted, nigh on tortured with those incessant All Important Episode promos showcasing the two words no surgeon wants to hear. And no, they're not Pittsburgh Steelers. Sigh.

They played like the Seahawks of old yesterday. The familiar demons of dropped passes, sub-par special teams play, injuries, terrible clock management, and the short end of the stick from the refs doomed the local 11 against a team they should have beat.

Seattlest dropped in at the Seattle Rep for the late August Wilson's final play in his ten-cycle series, Radio Golf. It's playing through February 18, and well worth making a trip to the Rep for, if only for the chance to see a Seattle theater audience that's not almost exclusively white. Tickets range from $22 - $36 ($10 if you're under 25 with ID). There are also rush prices 30 minutes before each performance.

What can you say about the Seahawks yesterday? They dominated the Panthers on offense and defense. They held Steve Smith to 33 yards receiving and a disputed return touchdown. They didn't turn the ball over and they took the ball four times. All in all, their 34-14 win was the best performance by a local team in a big game since, well, since the Huskies' 34-14 win over Michigan in the 1992 Rose Bowl. 34-14 is now our favorite football score.

The wake of late playwright August Wilson is today from 11am-8pm and tomorrow from 11am to 6pm at the Bonney-Watson Funeral Home. He'll be buried in Pittsburgh this weekend.
