Yesterday afternoon we got a last-minute invitation to captothehill's remembrance of the 500 block of East Pine, a $10,000 party the bloggers won back in July.

If you walk up or down Pine Street toward downtown, you may have seen a group of people intently watching the dog run over I-5 just to the west of Minor Ave. If you slowed your gait and took a gander yourself, you would have had the shock we did last night of seeing a bunch of goats munching away at the hillside. It was strange enough that we stopped our run to the bus to snap a quick photo.
Wayne Wentz, Seattle's traffic management director, says the city is considering finally doing something about the Pine Street Zigzag. Officials do not know what changes are coming, but construction is expected to begin in 2009. In the meantime, he says the city will put up "Do Not Cross Here" signs on the north side of Pine at Boren.
Yelpers give it 4 out of 5 stars. The Accidental Hedonist says: "If you're a sandwich fiend, you can do no better than here." The Stranger suggests you get drunk and go (but what else is new).
Yes, it makes a nifty preview of the what things will look like when The Big One hits Seattle -- what are the odds it'll knock over a half-built Viaduct? -- but really we snapped this to alert you that Pine Street is going to be backed up during the commute for as long as this "HULK SMASH!" phase goes on. That is all. Please return to whatnot.
Oh Boston, you silly over-reacting bunch of Nancys. Who can't tell the difference between a LiteBrite and a real bomb? Seriously, getting riled up and freaking the fuck out over some strange marketing thingies?
Music: The electronic talent of Guillermo Scott Herren's Prefuse 73 show at Chop Suey tonight comes highly recommended from every quarter of the Seattle media scape, and after listening to some of his work you can see why.
If you are afraid of fast cars (Tracy Chapman) or of movie characters existing in reality (Tom Cruise), then don't go downtown today. Because two characters from the upcoming Pixar film Cars---sotto voce: in theaters everywhere June 9th---are making an appearance at Westlake, as real-life cars.
That construction near the Paramount Theatre is phase one of Sound Transit's plan to turn the Downtown bus tunnel into a bus & train tunnel. The Pine Street Stub Tunnel is what they are building now--a spur off of the main line which will allow trains to turnaround. Pine Street has been reduced to two westbound lanes during construction, and is now a teeming river of frustrated drivers on Paramount event nights. Try to avoid it on your way to the February 24th Ashlee Simpson concert.
