Get downtown on your lunch hour, like now! According to the press release: "The first 300 customers in line will have the opportunity to celebrate with gift cards worth up to $500 and H&M T-shirts." Seattlest spent last night at a whirlwind preview event for the fabulous new H&M store downtown. It'll be open to everyone tomorrow at noon. We hear that if you get in line early, you can get a gift certificate to cover your opening-day shopping spree! Woot!

• The Belltowner is the bearer of wonderful and awful news. The very, very good? H&M opens in downtown Seattle on Thursday...as in tomorrow! The not at all good news? A policeman on bike was attacked with a surgical instrument in Belltown this Saturday.
• A West Seattle "Thriller" dance team is practicing to participate in a dance-off to beat the world "Thriller" record.
• Blogging Georgetown wonders if there's a real estate glut in the neighborhood.

Seattle fashionistas, get ready because your H&M prayers are being answered. According to the Puget Sound Business Journal, in addition to its Southcenter location, ever-popular H&M will open two new stores in Seattle proper next month. A 19,000-square-foot, two-story location will open in University Village on Sept. 12 and a 16,000-square-foot location will open at 520 Pike St. in downtown Seattle one little week later, on Sept. 18.

"Here" meaning "Southcenter," but we'll take what we can get. The first (and largest) of three stores planned to open in the Seattle area this year, the Southcenter H&M opens at 10 a.m. today. It's part of the mall's big expansion, which features a whole mess of new stores and restaurants, making the Tukwila shopping center the largest indoor mall in Washington and Oregon. Recession be damned.

According to Google Analytics, any day we can mention the words H&M and Seattle in a post is a very good day. So we were thrilled to get a press release heralding the Swedish stores arrival ("FINALLY," it said in caps) in Seattle. Except it's not really in Seattle. The first H&M store in the area will open on July 25th at Southcenter Mall. As much as we H&M cravers want to will it to be so, Southcenter is not in Seattle.

Finally, H&M, the Ikea of clothing stores, will make its glorious debut in Seattle.
