A few hotheads (and fists) connected over yesterday's accident in Ballard, involving a car hitting a pedestrian crossing the street at 8th Avenue NW and NW 49th Street. MyBallard has a few eyewitness reports saying the scuffle happened when the driver's keys were snatched as he tried to flee before the police showed. Another said it was a brawl between the victim and the driver. So far we know the police have detained the driver (and his innocent dog), but once the SPD gets around to updating their fancy new toy blotter, we can hopefully get a play-by-play of who exactly was throwing the punches.

Disturbing Violence for Today

Adding to this week's lamentable streak of violence, we woke up to find a report from Seattle 911 that a man had been killed in a hit-and-run accident last night near Cherry and Sixth in Downtown. The body was found just past midnight. According to the SPD Blotter, there are no witnesses at this point, but "officers observed a security camera on the east side of the Seattle Metropolitan Tower that might cover the intersection."

In an email from one of Seattlest's roving surveillance units:

The guy who pulled a hit and run on an MD-80 at Sea-Tac over the holiday weekend was suspended pending the results of an investigation after the plane suffered an in-flight depressurization. We're curious as to which route he's going to take: Will it be the "I didn't feel anything" classic? Maybe the old "That was already there" excuse? Perhaps "I barely touched it - That's what bumpers are for" standby? Any way you slice it it's difficult to imagine how he comes out of this with a job. Of course, one guy careening around the runways knocking creases into airplanes may not be the whole problem at Alaska. What about the rest of the Alaska Airlines baggage handling scabs strike breakers contractors?

Pure snow: The opportunities for grievous bodily harm exist at a number of area resorts. It's on, yo.
