Get Out This Weekend: 2008 Winter Beer Festival

How did this sneak up on us? The 2008 Winter Beer Festival starts today at 5 p.m. and goes 'til 10. Then it starts up again tomorrow from 1-10 p.m. 30 Washington breweries present their winter goods (here's the list) for your inspection; your admission includes a tasting cup and six 5-oz. beer samples. New this year: Chocolate Box, a "premier chocolate purveyor located in downtown Seattle" will be offering chocolate samples to go with your “caramel”, “toffee”, “coffee” or “chocolatey” beers. What's Cookin': Chocolate for a Cause

Seattlest’s already given you the scoop on the Kelly’s View Collection of chocolates, which features artwork by six children to benefit Seattle Children’s Hospital. Chocolate for Charity

Is Seattle going chocolate crazy? Theo Chocolate is doing chocolate massages, meditations and barbeques. Joule is dipping chicken liver in dark chocolate. There’s even a store called Chocolopolis. Claudio Corallo Chocolate is the newest contributor to the chocolate frenzy. Actually, they’re not so new, but they just opened a store on Market Street in Ballard. A recent opening party gave us a chance to see the store, meet the trio of local employees, and sample some of their fine chocolate. (The bars with crystallized orange......

What's Cookin': Savoring Seattle, One Step at a Time

Follow the pink umbrella. Seattlest felt silly taking a tour in its own city—but we’re pleased to report it was tasty fun. Angela Shen is founder of Savor Seattle food tours, and while she’s been conducting a 2-hour Pike Place Market Tour, she’s pleased to unveil her newest offering: a 3-hour Gourmet Downtown Seattle Tour. Although she’s a relative newcomer to Seattle, Angela has gained encyclopedic knowledge of our city; combined with her zest for food and zest for life (and Madonna-like ways, as everyone on tour gets high-tech audio......
