In another effort by Chairman and Chief Executive Howard Schultz to "get back to the roots and the core of our heritage, which is the leading roaster of specialty coffee in the world," it's been reported that Starbucks will remove those tasty breakfast sammiches from their stores. The AP reports that, "The sandwiches, which will disappear by this fall, boost a typical store's annual revenue by $35,000, so pulling them off the menu will cost at first," and that according to Schultz, "that proves the company isn't letting the soft economy......

Now, you're going to be hearing a lot about ex-Port Chief Mic Dinsmore getting a severance package from the Port of Seattle for retiring with a $107,000/yr pension to go to work for a hedge fund. You may hear that none of the Port commissioners but Pat Davis remembers they all agreed that, you know, it'd be a nice gesture to send Dinsmore off with an "extra" $339,841. Rainy day fund, kinda. Seattlest regrets there isn't a "Delete All" button when it comes to Port leadership. One of the Port of Seattle's organizational objectives is to "Enhance Public Understanding and Support of the Port's Role in the Region." Now the State Auditor's office has found that the Port could not "demonstrate the appropriateness of certain expenditures, made inappropriate expenditures and paid vendors in advance of receiving services." Rumors abound that Apple is interested in buying TiVo; both companies had no comment. The merger makes sense to Seattlest for a number of reasons: 1. Apple's on a roll, and Steve Jobs declared 2005 "the year of high-definition video" at the recent Macworld Exposition. Wethinks Apple likes television. 2. TiVo's President and Founder/Chief Executive have both announced plans to leave their posts; no replacements have been announced.
