There was definitely a chain link fence with a perspective drawing of a tram, a plan drawings and the city logo and VULCAN as the contractor on the closeenough-to-professional looking board mounted to the fence. Enclosed in the fence were a few construction items, a big spool of cable among other things. Didn't get a picture, unfortunately. It was there about 10 am Sat, Kerry Park overlook next to the sculpture (which was depicted in the drawing and dwarfted by the tram station structure) and then gone when we went back later in the evening. Very interested to know more about it, was city approved, etc.

I saw the Google Street View car in GeorgeTown this morning and got some pics as he was trying to get away. I wrote about it and put the pics here. Along with a handy Google Map of the whole incident:

Michelle Malkin has way too much time on her hands. If she honestly thinks the keffiyeh only symbolizes terrorism, she is only showing her ignorance. After living in the Middle East for a year, many, many men wear those scarves as opposed to the colorful ones worn by women. Many, many muslims are wonderful people and act more Christian than most here in the United States. Am I saying there aren't terrorists who wear those scarves? No. But if someone murders someone wearing Abercrombie and Fitch, are all people who wear A&F murderers? No.

on the passing of Ben McMillian, Gruntruck and Skinyard founder. I met him at 15, and he became a fast friend. I knew him as my best bud in high school and he was in love with my girlfriend (as was everyone else) and had his heart broken. I know Ben as and artist, above all else. He was an amazing artist. His dad was a painter, and his room was famous in our little town across the water from Seattle because it was covered floor to ceiling in posters, art, images, Ben's amazing work with airbrush. We dreamt of art, music and the city. We both made it to Seattle. I played in a band also during that time and it was amazing. Our birthday's were close, and Ben's was on April 1. What I regret most is that I hadn't been in touch as had made career in painting (as artist) he never knew about, and as published writer, and had volunteered at a hospice, and had been trying to e-mail all that time. Should have phoned. Knowing Ben, growing up with him, was a gift (though we certainly missed a lot of school having fun), and one of my biggest inspirations. I had moved to that small town from Seattle and he was the one person there who got it. I cannot believe that this soul would be gone. Even at fifteen, he was a charismatic, hilarious, creative, eclectic, talented, generous, empathetic, peaceful soul. And bigger than any room that contained him. Definitely more than a musician.

Governor Gregoire has signed controversial HB 2647, the Children’s Safe Products Act. What will this mean for Ballard's Archie McPhee and other Seattle toy purveyors? That remains to be seen.

We understand that the law does not go into effect until summer of 2009 and the Governor is taking additional measures. These include, creation of an advisory group, consideration of followup legislation and rulemaking.

We have heard that Samuele, manager at DiVino in Ballard, has left. We don't know the circumstances. Many who loved DiVino loved it because of the hospitality and charisma of front man Samuele. The loss of Samuele may also mean that Sarah, chef at DiVino and Samuele's wife, may also be gone ... although that is not confirmed.

Thanks for the help!

We need alternatives to Gregoire or Rossi. Gregoire has done nothing to protect the State of Washington from Real ID, in fact she rolled over. Rossi has been silent on the subject. So what other canidates will be running for the Governor seat? The one that wants to protect Washington States sovereignty and it citizens privacy has my vote.

Kristy Lee Cook actually did live in Seattle when she was nine. Her older sister, Terina, was a star gymnast and swimmer for Mt. Rainier High School, in Des Moines. While the swim team was celebrating at a Federal Way restaurant, Kristy was in the karioke lounge wowing the crowd with her singing.
