Paseo Menu Online In Spite Of Paseo

We have two reactions every time someone brings up the Cuban-styled restaurant Paseo in Fremont. First, we remember what it smells like walking past the place. Their grills push some seriously delicious air out onto the sidewalk, and the sandwich tastes exactly like your nose promised it would. Second, we get pissed off because we can't think of another restaurant in the city that could care less whether you eat there or not. The place was closed for like three months this summer while the owner was on vacation. We stopped in three times during that vacation, smelling the smells, tasting the tastes and then finding the place dark and closed at one in the afternoon on a Saturday. Three times! When is this asshole going to get back from the beach and fire up the fucking grill! Ahem, we thought enough time had passed to give us a little perspective on this, but apparently not...

It's a cool place, with great food and it's a very neighborhoody island in an increasingly corporatized Fremont Ocean, but getting a sandwich from Paseo is like pulling teeth. We bring this up now because we recently came across another guy who recognizes the same attitude in Paseo. Since they refuse to do it themselves, he's put their menu online.

Oh and of course asshole makes it "cash only". Typical.

The guy is free to run his business however he sees fit. If he wants to be open only on every third Sunday (except when he's on vacation) and only accept payment in sand dollars that's his prerogative. He'd probably still make money somehow; the sandwiches are that good. But, yeah, the "cash only" thing has also fucked me in the past. You know how far you gotta walk to get to an ATM from there?

Seriously, who can begrudge a business owner who wants to go on vacation and would rather deal in cash? I XXOO Paseo and I'm happy to exchange some vacation cash for a pork sandwich any day.

On the vacation note, they take one every year in the wintertime as well...this year it's from dec. 22 - jan 26. After many years of going to this awesome hole in the wall, I've learned to ask when their annual vacation will be so that I can get my fix in before they're off for the month!

My wife and I went to Paseos for the first time this Weekend...

ITS AWESOME...

And who can blame a guy fro wanting to deal in all cash...
