Seattlest Prepares to Game On

We'll be quick with this post, since we've got "tournament training" to finish. This weekend is PAX, the Penny Arcade Expo. This will be the third and largest incarnation of the conference, which is part symposium, part convention, entirely geeky. Gaming nerds of all stripes descend upon Bellevue's Meydenbauer Center for a weekend of competition, education, concerts and demonstrations from the gaming world.
You've likely heard of E3, which has traditionally been the gamer's Christmas (or Hanukkah, since it's multiple days). PAX is a bit like that, but where E3 catered to people in the industry, PAX caters to the gaming public. It's a big gaming party and everyone's invited. Video gamers, card gamers, and tabletop gamers all have a place at PAX.
This will be Seattlest's first trip to PAX. We've wanted to go in years past, but always opted out. We're hoping it's as big a spectacle as we expect it to be. We'll be posting over the weekend about our experience. We know you Seattlest readers will want to know how badly we get trounced in the Tetris tournament. If you're looking to go yourself they're selling tickets at the door, but be ready to spend a lot of time in line.
