Losing Makes Mariners More Popular

It didn't work for us in high school, but apparently the key to popularity is being a loser.

The Seattle Mariners are the 10th most popular baseball team in the US, according to a Harris poll.

They were 15th in 2004, and by losing 99 games propelled themselves to 13th on the list.

Now, after last year's 93 losses, and this season's last-place campaign, the M's have catapulted into the top ten.

We owe an apology to manager Mike Hargrove. All this time we thought you were incompetent, but it all makes sense if you're trying to lose.
