Seattle Likes the Boom

rumble.JPGSeattle likes to earn its accolades. We're one of the smartest, fittest, best barista having-est cities in the country, and yet our mid-sized city attitude constantly has us noting any mention we get that has us topping the Big Boys (not unlike a civic "Short Man's Complex"). Usually it's at least something truly noteworthy, but well, not always. Seattle is now home to the world's largest bass drum.

RUMBLE was created through a partnership between Mayflower Transit agents Wright Way Moving and Storage and the Seattle Seahawks, for use by Blue Thunder, the bluest, thunderiest drumline in the NFL. Measuring 350 pounds and 100" in diameter (that's over 8 feet - damn that's a big drum!), it tops drums at both Texas and Purdue to take the top spot.

So that's all well and good. We've got a bigass bass drum. Now what do we do with it? Do other NFL teams even have a drumline? If they do, we want to see a drumoff like that in the cinematic masterpiece Drumline. RUMBLE joins the squad as the cocky upstart, slowly earning the respect of the other drums, before destroying all comers at the big competition. When some director takes that idea and makes millions, just remember, Seattlest takes its cut off the net, not the gross.

Congrats to Blue Thunder. You've now gained your moment in the Retardedly Big Drum sun.
