Sasquatch Report: Actually, The Hailstorm Preceded The Rain

IMG_0257.jpgAbout three songs into her set, Neko Case gave up on it. Hail the size of dice had the crowd shouting in excitement and alarmed pain. (Note to self: never wait for the weather you see coming across the plain out here to arrive.) The storm, with lightning, lasted about 45 minutes, sending everyone streaming toward cars and tents.

At 6:15 or so, it died down and the news came that in another 45 minutes the shows would start up again. Meanwhile, we're huddled under the media tent listening to Common Market freestyle for the crowds still heading out and -- with a change of clothing and umbrellas -- heading back in.

We're pissed about Neko getting hailed out. Don't even talk to us right now. We need time.

The hail made the experience interesting, but in the end, I think it made it better.

The Shins and Ben Harper both put on great shows, but the Flaming Lips stole the night by starting their performance after Ben Harper at a little after midnight and rocking until 1:45 am! Oh jesus, I love the Flaming Lips.

Go Sasquatch. The beauty of the human culture shined as hail pelted individuals.
