Mike McGavick's Package Upsets Dems

golden.ticket.jpgThe state Democrats are accusing Republican Senate candidate Mike! McGavick of receiving an illegal campaign contribution in the form of a nearly seventeen million dollar severance package from Safeco Insurance.

Party chair Dwight Pelz claims that this violated federal laws prohibiting corporate contributions and contributions to candidates for personal use.

Surprisingly McGavick(!) refuted these allegations, and told the Times, "This is standard political junk that people are so sick of.” Then he forgot which party he represented added, "I think people would rather talk about why gas is three bucks a gallon."

McGavick(!) was CEO of Safeco before stepping down at the end of last year. He stayed on through February to (much like your mother) provide "transition services.” Those two extra months lead to millions more in pay and stock options for McGavick(!) . However, it should be pointed out that Safeco was perfectly transitioned.

For an investigation to proceed four of the six FCC commission members would need to vote that they believed a violation had occurred. Something that seems unlikely, especially when you consider an FCC advisory opinion from two years ago which stated that a severance package paid out to an employee who left his company to campaign for Congress did not violate corporate contribution laws.

So it looks like all this fuss will simply result in McGavick(!) having to defend his 17 million dollar severance package from an insurance company on the front page of newspapers state wide.

Sounds like a clever way to remind people that this guy is uber-rich and lives a life far better than you and I could ever dream.

Brilliant.

Dwight Pelz, I salute you.

They guy got a 17,000,000.00 plus check after he announced he was running. That is a big ass campaign contribution plain and simple and it is quite far from being kosher.
