Viva Vanpool!
The self-proclaimed “Mexican Elvis” -- El Vez -- is making yet another Seattle appearance this weekend, this time starring in the much-anticipated script reading of Vanpool. Señor Vez plays Alex Torres, a Seattle corporate drone who unexpectedly finds both personal and professional support in the diamond lane. Stranger scribe Nate Lippens and Von Piglet Sister Angie Louise are among the local talent playing his co-commuters.
Vanpool was written by Sean West, mastermind of DTM Filmworks and co-creator of the fantastic documentary Harold’s Home Movies. The script is for what West hopes to be the pilot episode of an upcoming Vanpool TV series. The reading, part of the Seattle Lesbian & Gay Film Festival , is at 2 p.m. on Saturday October 22nd at the Broadway Performance Hall.
Afterwards, save your seat! At 4 p.m. will be another screening of Seattleite Drew Emery ’s highly acclaimed and highly topical documentary, Inlaws & Outlaws. These days it seems like everyone’s screaming about gay marriage from jackass Pat Robertson to the ACLU. Seattlest says: don’t get it twisted.
